Podcasts are the modern-day incarnation of the radio. Rather than having to wait at a specific time for your favorite show, you can have it downloaded on your phone to listen to anywhere at any time. Offering the same convenience as video streaming services like Netflix, podcasts have dominated the audio market. I, myself, have even dabbled in creating one. 

Using anchor.fm, I have created a podcast similar to this series of blogs with a whole 6 total views (step it up, readers). 

Just like this blog feeds into my desire to write, my podcast feeds into my desire to converse. 

Platforms like Anchor have lowered the already low barrier of entry to podcasting. Most phones and laptops are equipped with a decent sounding microphone, making the only thing one has to do to create a podcast is get up and do it.

Any hotel-goer will be familiar with a certain pastry-centric morning tradition: the continental breakfast. Usually included in the regular room fare, the meal consists of bread-products and sometimes eggs. How did this ubiquitous part of the hotel experience become so widespread? Strangely enough, food is one of the most hotly-contented issues today. The tradition of fueling the human body looks very different between cultures, and can even vary intra-culturally.  The largest force of food-centered change is veganism, the belief that humans should not use animal products in any way whatsoever. The biggest critics of vegans are those that believe that humans require certain nutrients exclusive to animal products. I am not here to argue the validity of that claim but am instead here to counter it. This factoid seems to imply that meat is definitely a healthier option, but that is far from true. Most meats are full of fat, which—in large doses—can pose a significant health risk. Why I Blog

Writing these posts often feels like I'm talking to a brick wall. I have one overall view as of now (one that I'm pretty sure is myself), and there is no prospect that will change anytime soon. Regardless, I boot open my laptop every day and attempt to write one of these posts. But why do I do it? I have no aspirations of success or fame on a part of this blog. If I did, I wouldn't have chosen such an obscure blog name, nor would I continually write these sweepingly general titles. I will admit that there is a slight need to prove to colleges that I am spending my quarantined summer productively, but I doubt that a run-into-the-ground, poorly-written blog will be much of a factor in their decision (at least I hope not).  I write this blog of my own volition.  My life is plagued by this nagging desire to be productive at all times. I exercise while I watch television, I listen to podcasts while I play videogames, and I spend most of my free time writing things like this....
