Americanization

The United States and the United Kingdom have been intrinsically related for all of modern history. Despite the US's anti-British beginnings, the two nations have come together over a shared culture and language. However, this bond may not be as mutual as it may at first appear. America seems to have not only sent the British back to the Isles--they sent American ideals there as well.
While there is a multitude of American "borrowings" in Britain, I will be analyzing a relatively recent one: COVID-19 ignorance.
Driving up the country, one will come to the unfortunate realization that mask-wearers are a scarce sight. Anyone with a cloth face covering is given sideways glances and made to feel uneasy. In a country that was once a pioneer of universal healthcare and public transport, it is shameful to see that the English (I cannot speak for Scotland, Northern Ireland, or Wales) public is so reluctant to alter its behavior.
As even the British Prime Minister takes on the same appearance as the United States president, it is of utmost importance to reevaluate if Anglo-Americanism is beneficial for the British Isles.
